Collie Marshall Spence, Jr (97) of Smyrna, Tennessee died February 1st, 2022. He was a lifelong resident of Dyer County, Tennessee but had lived in Smyrna, Tennessee since the year 2000. He was a member of the Southside Church of Christ in Smyrna, Tennessee. He was retired from U.S. General Services Administration after 36 years, World War II Army Air Force Veteran, a member of the Army Association, a licensed pilot, a Boy Scout leader, and was a member of the American Rose Society.
Survivors include his son, Mark T. Spence and wife Monica; two grandchildren, Hanna Mari Spence and Hunter Marshall Spence, all of Smyrna; brother, John W Spence of Monroe, LA; sisters, Betty Spence Lowery and Sandra Spence of Dyersburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, Collie Marshall Spence, Sr. and Nora Gladys Thompson Spence; wife of 61 years, Billie Jean Forsythe Spence of Smyrna, Tennessee; three brothers, Jere Cook Spence, Huey Austin Spence and Louis Marshall Spence; three sisters, Virginia Spence O’Malley, Doris Spence Sanders of Newbern, and Marion Spence Parks of Trimble.
Visitation will be held at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna on Thursday, February 3rd, 2022 from 3:00PM until 7:00PM.
Visitation will also be held at Dyersburg Funeral Home on Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 10:00am until 2:00pm. Graveside services at Fairview Cemetery will be immediately following.
