Clay Knox JamesClay Knox James, age 91 of Cottontown passed away Monday, March 11, 2024 at his home. He was born July 21, 1932 in Madison, TN to Fred Knox & Gertrude Griffin James. He retired after 30+ years of service with Gates Tire Company, which later was renamed Armstrong Pirelli. Mr. James proudly served his country during Korea in the U.S. Army. He had lived 60+ years in the same home. He had been a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church since 1962, where he had served as a deacon. He loved coffee, cows and Cracker Barrel. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife ,Agnes Marie Greer James; sister, Marie Gray; brothers, W.H. James and Raymond Leon James. He is survived by his daughters, Shirley Marie (Jeffrey) Heredia, Portland, TN and Sandra Darlene (Bob) Kubasch, Franklin, KY; sister, Norma James Andrews (Walter}, Chattanooga, TN; 5 grandchildren, Angela (Tim) Bell, Chris (Tracey) Heredia, Rachel (Stephen) Stucy, Jennifer Kubasch and Rebekah Fuqua; 8 great-grandchildren, Jordan, Tyler, Clay, Miles, Annalee, Livi Jo, Cara and Ava. Funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at 1pm in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House with Bro. Ray Biggs officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery with military honors and with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation is planned for Wednesday, Marh 13, 2024 10am until 1pm at the funeral home.
