Claudia Pitts (Pearson) Travis, of Huntsville, passed away Thursday, Dec. 27th, at Riverside Assisted Living in Decatur, AL.  Born to Maggie and Frank Pitts in Anniston, AL in 1917, she spent her life in Huntsville, where she worked on Redstone Arsenal for the Dept. of the Army until retirement in 1973.  A member of First United Methodist Church of Huntsville, she was a wonderful loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by husband, John Travis, siblings, Nellie Neal, Emma Rhodes, Ann Travers and Paul Pitts; grandson, John Keith Haraway; and son-in-law, John Haraway.

Survivors include her children, Jerry W. Pearson, Sr. (Lois) and Taska Haraway; grandchildren, Jerry W. Pearson, Jr., Claudia H. Handel (Jason) and Wendy Kirkpatrick; great-grandchildren, Alton Pearson, Ashley Haraway, Emma Handel, Kate Handel, Allie G. Handel, Nikki Barnickel (John), Paul Kirkpatrick (Laurie), and siblings, Margaret Pearson, Mary Ruth Jones and Reverend Harold Pitts.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30th, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home.  A graveside service will immediately follow at Huntsville Memory Gardens with Reverend Robert Sparkman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of The Valley, Decatur, AL.
