Clarence-Byrd-1469101158Clarence Webster Byrd, Jr., age 78 of Cherokee, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2016. His visitation will be Friday, July 22, 2016 at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. He will lie-in-state Saturday, July 23, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Cherokee First Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Steve Slaton officiating. Burial will be in Mhoontown Cemetery.
Webster lived most of his life in Cherokee and was a member of Cherokee First Baptist Church for over 60 years. He retired after 41 years of service with Cherokee Nitrogen. His two great loves were his family and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ethel Byrd.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Willodean Byrd of Cherokee, AL; sons, Randy Byrd and wife Tracey of Cherokee, AL, and Bradley Byrd and wife Tabby of Corinth, MS; brothers, Billy Byrd and wife Margrew of Florence, AL; sisters, Myrtle Myrick of Russellville, AL, and Carrie Jean Borden and husband Bobby of Cherokee, AL; four grandchildren, Christy Russell and husband Jay of Iuka, MS, Tiffany Gary and husband Josh of Russellville, AL, Benjamin Byrd and wife Katie of Sheffield, AL, and McKenzie Byrd of Cherokee, AL; he is also survived by his beloved great-grandchildren, Ethan, Evan, and Alivia Russell, and Gavin Byrd. His wife, sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his life.
Pallbearers will be Benjamin Byrd, Hunter Rivers, Jay Russell, Carl Howard, Stanley Wadkins, and Chad Walters. Honorary Pallbearers will be Shane Seal, Bumper Seal, Ethan Russell, and Evan Russell.
