Clarence “Sarge” Driggers – Obituary

Clarence “Sarge” Driggers, 87, of Hazel Green, passed away on November 30 at home with family. Born on October 17, 1928 in Laurel Hill, NC, he was preceded in death by parents Edward and Ethel Driggers, brothers, Floyd and Johnnie Driggers, sister Peggy Maye, and daughter, Elizabeth Putman. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Veleria Driggers, brothers Clyde and Billy Driggers, sisters Geraldine Robinson and Wanda Johnson, daughters Patricia Ewert and Karen Guthrie, granddaughters Charley Armstrong, Christina Guthrie, and Nikki Guthrie, grandson Taylor Putman, 2 great-granddaughters, and a great grandson. Clarence retired from the Army after 20 years of service and from The University of Alabama in Huntsville after 17 years. Visitation will be held at Berryhill Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 2 from 5:30 to 8:00. A chapel service will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Bevill’s Chapel Cemetery. Rev. Benny Berry will be officiating. The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice for their services and care of our loved one. Berryhill Funeral Home is assisting the family.
