Clarence (Chip) Perry Gillespie III – Obituary

Clarence (Chip) Perry Gillespie III, 61, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 25, at his home in Decatur, Alabama. Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at Fairview Baptist Church in Decatur, Alabama with a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. to follow.

Arrangements are handled courtesy of Roselawn Funeral Home.

Chip was born in Birmingham, Alabama on May 5, 1955. He graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a degree in chemistry.

Chip and Kristy married on Dec. 27, 1986, and shared 30 wonderful years together.

He enjoyed working for Packaging Corporation of America.

He was an avid Alabama football fan, with South Alabama football as a close second.

Chip is survived by his wife, Kristy; his daughter, Mary; his son, Matthew; four grandchildren, Dylan, Gracie, Mackenzie, and Madeline; three sisters, Renee Tucker (Jerry), Vicki Lawson (Dennis), and Heidi Gillespie; and two brothers, Larry Robbins (Joy) and Scott Robbins (Jean).

He was preceded in death by his parents, C.P. Gillespie Jr. and Hazel and Elwin Robbins.
