Her influence will live for years through her family. As her daughters described, “Mother’s mantra was the title of one of our children’s books, “Manners Make a Person Nice to Know.” And what we thought was so “corny” at the time has become our passion as well. She made sure we always looked our best and taught us to make every effort to do just that—to look our best and work our hardest. She encouraged us to continue our education and get our Master’s and Doctorate degrees. Even though she had not been herself for several years she maintained her stoic presence and never complained.
She was loved by many and a wonderful role model for our family, for Brittany, Taylor, Madeline, Lily, our cousins, nieces, nephews and so many of Brittany’s childhood friends. She valued education and career, deciding at the age 50 to get her real estate license and work in that field and she did just that. She was also our in-house English teacher making sure we always spoke properly and used correct grammar. Our family values prioritized God and our church because of our parents’ commitment. We were always involved with our church family because of Mother and Daddy. We live today thankful for every lesson she taught us and will strive to continue to reflect through our lives the values which were so important to her and now to us. We were and are truly blessed to have had her as our Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Clara Juanita Dixon Moore.
