Clara Barlow KingClara Barlow King of Iuka died Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo following a fall in her home on Monday. Clara was born November 19, 1932, in Tula, MS and grew up on a farm with her parents and six brothers and sisters. During these early years is when she started cooking and baking for her family and her talent and love for preparing food remained with her throughout her life. She was known for the wonderful dishes she shared with her friends. Iuka was home to Clara for 65 years. She loved being a mother and instilled in her children and grandchildren a strong sense of family. She was a very loving and giving person and had a strong affection for her friends, her church – Iuka Baptist, and her community. She loved playing bridge in her spare time and belonged to many bridge clubs over the years. After her children were grown, she worked as a dental assistant for 20 years to the late Dr. Joe Barlow. Clara is survived by her son, Mickey King and his wife Vicky; her daughter, Cindy Phillips and her husband Gary; her daughter Susan Hopkins; seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Clara was preceded in death by her son, Ronnie King. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M., Saturday, January 6, 2024, with services to follow at 1:00 P.M. at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
