Civic Leader, Role Model, BBQ Genius John Bunyan Cole dies Wednesday

FLORENCE – He was 76. Cole, one of the most well known and popular citizens of The Shoals, died Wednesday.

A former Chairman of the Shoals Chamber of Commerce, Cole was praised by numerous civic leaders as a man who transcended racial barriers. He was involved in many civic projects and was at one time a Trustee of the University of north Alabama.

Thompson and Son Funeral Home is conducting the funeral arrangements. His obituary will be released shortly.
