TUSCUMBIA-The Tuscumbia City Council voted unanimously to hire Birmingham, Alabama-based Retail Strategies, a retail and commercial development consulting firm, to attract more businesses to the city.
Tuscumbia hopes to attract larger retail stores to boost the economy and increase visitors to the city. Retail Strategies will use industry-leading research to provide data to large chain stores and represent the City of Tuscumbia at trade shows.
“Their role will be to help us conduct critical studies of our city’s economy to figure out what types of industries would prosper here,” said Mayor Kerry Underwood. “They will then help us reach out to businesses and leaders in those industries and market our city as an ideal investment.”
The City Council hopes this will help them compete with the other cities in the Shoals area.
“One of my main goals as Mayor of Tuscumbia has been to recruit new businesses to our city while supporting our existing ones,” said Mayor Underwood. “We are excited to be partnering with Retail Strategies in this endeavor.”
“Recruiting new businesses to our area is critical to our future success,” Mayor Underwood said. “We have a lot to offer, and this partnership will help us educate potential investors on the opportunities available.”
