FLORENCE-Mayor Mickey Haddock and the City of Florence are excited to announce the launch of our new “Florence In Touch” Mobile Application just in time for the holidays. This free mobile application was designed to create connections between local businesses and residents. Included with the launch is an interactive directory available on our City of Florence website. Local businesses will be able to create and tailor their presence within the “Florence In Touch” mobile application through unique pages designed and updated by each business owner.
Very few cities currently offer this service to its businesses, residents, and visitors. This resource helps

Mickey Haddock
implement the City’s economic development mission to support and promote all local businesses, showcase our community, and link residents to frequently used City information.
We congratulate Jeremy Britten, Web Communications Manager of UNA and his wife, Christi Britten, Social Media Marketing Coordinator of the Florence Lauderdale Public Library, who won our Mobile App Contest with the design used for our splash screen and naming our mobile application “Florence In Touch.”
This app has so much to offer…
- The Home Screen allows residents or visitors to search our Florence businesses by name, category, or those near their current location. The phone number and a map to their place of business are currently set up. Once the business registers and claims their page, they may customize their page by adding coupons, providing hours of operation, adding social media links, and much more. Local businesses may use our “Florence In Touch” page as their business website or they may use the page to link to their already existing web site. There also is a “follow me” feature that you can sign up for on any business’ page to receive notifications when your favorite business has special offers or events.
- The Community Section makes it easy for residents to access frequently used City information. This page provides links to City personnel, a link to our City’s main phone line, connection to our City Facebook, and a direct email link to the City for questions or comments. Additional categories under this section allow you to check the local weather and access popular local links related to education, tourism, government, clubs, economic development, business resources, and other links.
- The Business Section contains commonly used interactive links to help connect with City services easier and faster. This section allows you to pay your traffic ticket, pay your Florence Utilities bill, renew your business license, or sign-up for our Parks and Recreation programs. The Business Section includes access to our City website and a link for business deals.
“Florence In Touch” is designed to give residents and visitors one central place to find information about their favorite local businesses and to easily connect to City links. The app is now available on Google Play; it will also be available in the Apple Store in approximately two weeks. You may go to https://www.florenceal.org/At_a_Glance/Social_Media/index.html and click on the “Florence In Touch” logo for details and instructions. For more information about the app, contact Melissa Bevis, City Services Coordinator, at 256-740-6086.
