Cindy Ann Hardy Melton
Our beloved Cindy was a bright light to so many, full of compassion and tenderness to whomever crossed her path. But even a heart of gold can’t beat forever. Cindy Ann Hardy Melton, 65, of Cherokee, AL, died from an unexpected cardiac event at North Alabama Medical Center on May 2, 2024. She was surrounded by family and loved immensely.
Cindy Ann was born in Meridian, MS, on February 3rd, 1959, to William “Pete” and Evelyne Hardy. She was the oldest sister to her beloved brother, James, and baby sister, Rebecca. Cindy was a dedicated RN whose career spans over four decades across Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama where she cared for patients in hospitals, clinics, and their homes. Cindy found her niche in home healthcare where she has worked as a field nurse, administrator, and branch manager over the past thirty years. Cindy returned to the field during 2020 caring for home health patients while still diligently fulfilling her administrative duties. Her work ethic knew no bounds as she drove countless miles fulfilling the roles of numerous positions to passionately care for her patients. Cindy retired in 2022. Most importantly, Cindy was an amazingly devoted, fun, and patient wife, Momma, Nannie, and friend. She remained kind, selfless, humble, humorous, and resilient no matter what hardship came her way. Her love was limitless and she is deeply adored, admired, and respected by so many.
Celebrating her beautiful life and spirit is her devoted husband, Jonathan; children, Shaun and Jordyn (Bradley Dean); grandchildren, Sarrah, Piper, Keelyn, River, Justice, Amelie; sister, Rebecca (Bill Mason); nieces, Lauryn Faulkner and Kaitlyn Mason; nephew, Jamie Hardy; and many more friends and family whom she so selflessly loved.
Cindy was preceded in death by her father, William “Pete” Hardy; mother, Evelyne Stokes; and brother, James Hardy.
There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee with Rev. Gary Cosby officiating.
