Christmas: Remember The True Meaning

Today is Christmas, 2017.    It is time to spend time with family and friends.  Giving and receiving of gifts.  The weather has been crazy this week so we don’t really know if we will be wearing short or long sleeves today.  But no matter the weather, it is a time to spend time with family and friends.

It is time to remember the true meaning of Christmas.  Christmas has been turned into a commercialized and materialistic Holiday.  It’s time to get back to the fundamentals of Christmas.  It is not the cost of the gift.  It is the thought of a gift.  A gift can be a simple Christmas Card.  Be thankful for what you have not what you give.  Just telling someone “Merry Christmas” might brighten that person’s day enough to put them in the Christmas Spirit.

It is time to remember our Military Members who are overseas fighting for our freedom.  They are someone’s Daughters, Sons, Mothers, and Fathers.  They are not able to be home with their families this Holiday.    They are fighting for our Freedom so that we can celebrate at home this Christmas Day.

Sadly some of these Military Personnel might not make it home for another Christmas.  They will make the Ultimate Sacrifice for Freedom so that we might be free.  For those serving overseas as well as here in the United States, we wish you a Merry Christmas.   They will hopefully have a good meal to celebrate this Holiday.

It is time to remember our First Responders that are working during the Holidays to keep us safe.  This includes Police, Fire, Ambulance and Medical Personnel.  They are away from their family so that we can be safe and help us in case of trouble.  They are sacrificing their time for us.  I remember during my time as a Police Officer, especially toward the end of my career, I volunteered to work Christmas so that the other Officers with kids could be off.  In some jurisdictions, the Department will allow the Officer to go home or to family to eat while on shift.

Lastly, from the Crew at Southern Heritage Gun & Pawn, we would like to wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
