Christina Ann Jenkins Bell, 83, of Decatur, died Saturday, June 16, 2018, at her residence. Her family will host a graveside service with interment in Waveland, Mississippi at a later date. Shelton Funeral Home is assisting her family.
Ms. Bell was born June 5, 1935, in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi to Arvel Russell Jenkins and Gladys Rosalee Bourgeois Jenkins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chris Bell, and her parents. Ms. Bell served many years as a public servant on the Board of Registrars for Morgan County. As Chairman of the Alabama Registrars Association, she was instrumental in developing new voter registration rules for the state. She also worked in administration for NARCOG senior service programs, and was a member of the Decatur High School Band Boosters in the 1970’s. In 1954, she was crowned Miss Forestry Queen of Hancock County, Mississippi.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Gilbert “Gil” Langley (Wendy) of Fernandina Beach, Florida and Roland Louis Langley of Decatur; two grandsons, John Russell Langley of Decatur and Aaron Kyle Langley (Aja) of Scottsboro; two nephews, George Thorning and Russell Thorning; one niece, Barbara Ann Kerns; and two cousins, J.D. and Glenda Bourgeois.
