chesterChester Dean Cecil passed away in his home in Savannah, Georgia on October 3, 2016. Barbara, his loving wife of over 60 years, was by his side. He is survived by his daughter, Leslie Cecil Keene and her husband Dennis; and his son, Dan Cecil and his wife Amy. He was the proud “Papaw” of 5 grandchildren who were his pride and joy. His surviving grandchildren are Christopher Cecil, Connor Cecil, Michael Keene and Erin Keene. His grandson, Colby Cecil, is reunited with his beloved Papaw in Heaven.
Chester Dean was born on March 20, 1935 in Cherokee, Alabama. After proudly serving his country in the United States Navy, he became a member of the I.B.E.W. and was a member for over 50 years. He and Barbara were active in the Mynot community and were members of the Mynot Church of Christ as well as the Central Church of Christ in Savannah. Chester Dean loved God, his family, friends and Country. He is preceded in death by his mother, Tommie Beasley; his father, William Chester Cecil; his stepfather, Howard Beasley; and his sister Shirley Cecil South.
The Viewing and Funeral Services will be at Morrison Funeral Home in Cherokee on Saturday, October 8, 2016. The viewing will be from 1:30-3:00 pm and the funeral will be at 3:00 immediately following the viewing. Chester Dean will be buried at the Mynot Cemetery. Mitch Holman, an Elder from Central Church of Christ, will be officiating.
The Pallbearers will be his beloved grandchildren, Al Faircloth and Jack Deaton.
The family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Mynot Cemetery Fund. Donations may be sent to: Harold Overton at 4165 Maud Rd, Cherokee, Alabama 35616.
