Cheryl Janine Ford, 60, of Spring Valley passed away on April 8, 2024. Visitation will be Thursday, April 11 from 12-1 pm at Colbert Memorial Chapel with a service to follow at 1 pm.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Barbara Joy Ford; grandparents, Roscoe and Ora Lee Jarnigan and Reginald and Ethel Ford.

She is survived by her sister, Donna Tipps; nephew, Ford Tipps and wife, Ericka; great-nieces, Collins and Riley Tipps.

Cheryl lived a life that, though changed forever by a car accident in 2000, showed amazing resilience and perseverance in overcoming limitations and coping with her new normal.

She was a graduate of the University of North Alabama and worked at Bank Independent and Leigh, Hester, Leigh and Marmann, CPAs prior to her accident. She enjoyed traveling and was able to do so with many friends and family and she was happy decorating the homes in which she lived.

She loved her family and was the best aunt to Ford. He spent many happy hours with her growing up, providing him with lots of fun activities and an endless supply of cinnamon toast to snack on. In recent years she enjoyed spending time with Ford’s family including attending Collins’ and Riley’s dance recitals.

Cheryl loved and was loved well by her church family at Spring Valley Baptist Church, where she was organist for many years before and since her accident. One of the things that gave her the most pleasure was playing on Sunday.

Pallbearers will be cousins.

In lieu of flowers donations, may be made in Cheryl’s memory to the charity of your choice.
