Cherokee Man Dies From Injuries Received In Single-Vehicle Accident Near Tuscumbia

TUSCUMBIA-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a single-vehicle accident near Tuscumbia has taken the life of a Cherokee man:

“A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 7:50 p.m. Friday, January  23, has claimed the life of a Cherokee man.

Leslee James Edward Weaver, 19, was critically injured when the 2013 Nissan Altima he was driving left the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned. Weaver was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash, was ejected and was transported to Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield for treatment. While at the hospital, Weaver succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The crash occurred on U.S. 72 near the 21 mile marker, approximately one mile west of Tuscumbia, in Colbert County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
