Charlotte Williamson TapleyCharlotte Williamson Tapley, 87, of Fort Payne, died peacefully on May 8, 2025, her family at her bedside. She was born in Fayetteville, Alabama, to Katherine and Rufus Williamson. She was committed to her family, her church, the rearing of her daughter Sheree, and the spoiling of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, all who knew her as “Nana”.

She was privileged and extremely proud to serve as executive secretary to Dr. Joe Morton during his tenure as Sylacauga City Schools Superintendent, and was duly honored on her retirement from that position. She was the devoted wife of Billy Tapley until his death, and they were faithful members and participants in the Senior Adults of Sylacauga First Baptist Church. Despite major life and health challenges, Charlotte was always cheerful and positive, brightening the room wherever she was, for all to enjoy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Billy Tapley, and daughter Sheree Morris Gibbs. She is survived by her grandchildren Steven Alan Isbell, Jr. (Julie), Dr. Eleanor Isbell Mathews (Colby), and great grandchildren Katherine Alan Mathews, Eloise Elizabeth Mathews, and Andrew James Isbell.

Graveside services will be held at Glenwood Cemetery at 11 am on Saturday, May 17, 2025.

Wilson Funeral Home and Crematory of Fort Payne is in charge of arrangements.
