Charlie F. Brown, Jr, age 91, of Guntown, died Saturday, March 2, 2024, in hospice care at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born July 17, 1932, in Pontotoc County to Charlie, Sr. and Fannie B. Brown.
Following his Algoma High School graduation in 1949, he joined the United States Air Force in 1950. After a 20-year military career, Charlie retired in 1970. He continued his career pursuits with the United States Postal Service from 1970 until 1990, retiring from the Guntown office as Postmaster.
He is survived by his son, Michael F. Brown (Sue Ann); daughter-in-law, Beth Brown; sister, Faye Walton; five grandsons, Chris Brown (Melissa), Ben Brown (Kendra), Michael Brown (Katie), William Brown (Daniel) and Ian Brown (Emily); and one great-grandson, Bryson Brown.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita C. Martin Brown in 2013; and his oldest son, Stephen W. Brown in 2022.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles E. Brown and Windham B. Brown; three sisters, Connie Forsythe, Bennie Franklin and Mae McWhirter; and infant twin brothers, Lloyd and Floyd Brown.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Pegues, Saltillo.
Services to honor Charlie’s life will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2024, at the Saltillo Chapel of Pegues. Graveside services with Military Honors will follow at Tupelo Memorial Park.
