Charles Wilson “Charlie” Freeman, age 85, of Sheffield, died Sunday, May 1, 2016. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, May 4, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., at First Baptist Church of Sheffield. The service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield.
Mr. Freeman was a native of Chicago, Illinois, but has lived most of his life in the Shoals area. He was a bookkeeper. Mr. Freeman was preceded in death by his parents, Jewel and Maye Freeman, and daughter-in-law, Cindy Freeman.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Irma Freeman; sons, Jonathan Lee Freeman, Douglas Kent Freeman (Becky), and Randall David Freeman (Cynthia); daughter, Rebecca Lynn Cochran (Steve); brother, Don Freeman; sisters, Constance Runia, Patricia Thielen, Jewell Colley, and Joyce Pilgrim; and grandchildren, Micah Cochran (Vicki), Seth Freeman, and Amber Freeman.
Pallbearers will be James Bedsole, John Adams, Wilton Fortenberry, Amos Harrison, Bob Atwell, and Richard Sheridan. Honorary pallbearers include Charlie “Bud” Streit and Bob Smith.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Sheffield, Gideons International, or Alacare Hospice.
Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, is directing.
