Charles Wayne Wood age 67 of Athens, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Wood was born November 18, 1946 in Limestone County, AL to Charles B. Wood and Edith L. Hargrove Wood.
Services will be Friday, February 28, 2014 2:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. George Whitten officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Wood was retired from Local 320 Operating Engineers.
Preceded in death by his parents, Buford and Edith Wood.
Survived by a step-son, Phillip Hampton and wife, Tammy of Tuscaloosa; two sisters, Debi Taylor and husband, Mahlon of Athens and Diane Meherg and husband, Joey of Trinity, AL; one brother, Steve Wood of Athens; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brad Taylor, Chad Taylor, Nathan Smith, Danny Wood, John Baugher and Anthony Baugher.
