Charles Wayne Ferguson, age 99 of Fort Payne, died peacefully at home with his family by his side.
Sergeant Major Ferguson served honorably in World War II as well as two tours in Vietnam.
“Chuck” or “Fergie” as he was known, is preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sisters, Dorothea and Maxine; the mother of his children, Hazel; and his wife, Jan.
Chuck is survived by his daughter, Scarlet Montgomery of Myrtle Beach, SC; son, Daniel Ferguson and his beloved daughter-in-law, Michelle of Ft. Payne; and brother, Mike Ferguson of North Carolina.
After retirement from the Army, “Fergie” joined the staff of the Fulton County, GA (ROTC) school district, retiring from there in 1994. He and Jan moved back to his beloved Alabama.
“Fergie” left behind his great friends at the VFW, his wonderful friends at the Fort Payne Library and especially his friends of The Dead End Coffee Club.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
