Funeral for Charles W. “Chuck” Murphy, 82, of Decatur will be Saturday, January 11, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ben Raper and Bro. Rayford Milligan officiating. Burial will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Murphy, who died Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born June 29, 1932, in Morgan County to Charles and Hattie Murphy. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Greg Murphy.
Survivors include his wife, Joy Murphy; one son, Charles “Tony” Murphy; two daughters, Deborah Turner and Jennifer McAbee; ten grandchildren, Whitney Murphy, Melissa Murphy, Melinda Daffron (Cory), Clint Murphy, Stephen Suter (Deana), April Foster (Noel), Megan Murphy, Justin Talavera, Josh McAbee and Macayla Terry (Clay); nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Sue Millwood.
Pallbearers will be Josh McAbee, Clint Murphy, Justin Talavera, Clay Terry, Noel Foster and Joe Mears.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Mears, Marty Mears, John Mears and Stephen Suter.
