Charles Vernon Ezell born on March 8, 1934 passed away at his home in Athens on

March 10, 2021 at the age of 87. He was born to T. E. (Thomas Edward) Ezell and Ella
Mae Smith Ezell in Athens, Alabama. He married Maude Ellen Goode in December
1953. They were married for 57 years.

He was part-owner of Ezell’s Cotton Gin for many years until he became an independent
trucker. Ezell Trucking was his business and his handle was ‘Big Daddy’. He loved
trucking and traveling with his wife Maude and close friends. His favorite pass time
after retirement was camping in his 5th wheel at the river, going to Hardee’s to visit with
friends and chatting with the Lauderdale’s as they farmed his land. He has been on the
board of director’s at Alabama Farmer’s Federation for many years. He attended Mt. Carmel or Hobbs Street Church of Christ.

He is survived by his daughters, Sharon Ezell of Athens and Pam Gordon (Wally) of Athens; son Keith Ezell of Rogersville; grandchildren; Grant Gordon (Wendy), Melissa Bodley (Chris), Jamin Seat (Brittany), Judson Guimarin (Katie), Nathaniel Ezell, Tyler Ezell (Katie); eight great grandchildren; brother, Thomas Ezell of Athens.

He is preceded in death by his wife Maude Ellen Ezell; and parents T. E. and Ella Mae Ezell; and sister, Erma Brooks (Ralph).

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 at Dement Cemetery, on Friday March 12, 2021 with Odis Duncan officiating. Spry Funeral Home in Athens is directing. The pallbearers will be Grant Gordon, Judson Guimarin, Nathaniel Ezell, Tyler Ezell, Ray Allen, and Barry Ezell.
