Charles Richard Coats, of Vinemont passed away at his residence on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at the age of 82. He was born March 7, 1938 to Samuel Ward Coats, Sr. and Birdie Mae Overcast Coats. Charles was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Charles loved to be at home and was known for his great sense of humor. His hobbies included polishing rocks, fishing, vegetable gardening and tinkering on old cars. He was preceded in death by his parents. His survivors include his wife, Barbara Nix Coats; daughters: Deborah Ellegood and Cheryl “Cheri” (Jerry) Grissom; son, Todd (Denise) Coats; brother, Samuel Ward “Bud” Coats, Jr.; grandchildren: Emily Grace Coats, Scott Rickard and Eric Rickard; 3 great grandchildren and his beloved dog, Honey. His family will receive friends on Saturday, September 19, 2020 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Moss Service Funeral Home, with the Celebration of Life Funeral Service beginning in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Clyde Ledlow officiating. Burial will be held at Ebenezer Cemetery. Moss Service Funeral Home directing.
