Charles Reid Douthat, II, age 38, died on October 28, 2019, at his residence in Madison, AL. He was born in Springfield, OH, but lived most of his life in Madison. He was preceded in death by his mother, Debra Anne Hill Douthat and by maternal and paternal grandparents. Reid is survived by his father, Charles David Douthat, Madison; brother Ashby Gochenour, Crimoria, VA; aunts, Deedy (Terry) Smith, Rock Hill, SC; Ginny Hill, Bluefield, WV; and cousins living in West Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida.

Reid was an accomplished Eagle Scout during his teen years. He graduated from Bob Jones High School in 2000 and studied E-commerce at the University of Alabama. He was self-employed and very experienced in all areas of computer programming and management. Over the last few years, he became expert in cryptocurrency, and trading and working with Bitcoins became one of his greatest passions and rewards.

His interests included photography, creating and collecting artwork, golf, politics, and Bama football, as well as many other hobbies and pastimes. He recently supported 4ocean.com and was excited to receive the group’s bracelet for his donation to help fund ocean cleanup.

The family will receive visitors on Monday, November 4, from 4:00-6:00 pm at Berryhill Funeral Home. A memorial service will be planned later at a location in West Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Madison United Methodist Church, 127 Church Street, Madison, Alabama 35758.
