Charles R. Jeffreys, 76, of Double Springs, passed away on April 24, 2016 at UAB in Birmingham.
He was born on Sept. 20, 1939 in Lawrence County. He graduated from Hatton High School and went on to earn his Associate’s Degree in accounting from Nashville Business School. He was a longtime member of Union Grove Freewill Baptist Church in the Black Pond community. He loved to travel, loved his family and spending time with them. He loved to tell jokes and enjoyed time at the beach. He was a very kind-hearted, giving person, always ready to help others. He was known as Buddy by his sister, Charlie by all his friends and Granddaddy by family. His favorite saying was “Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.”
Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 at Nichols Funeral Home in Double Springs, where services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. Brother Mickey Millican will officiate. Burial will be in Winston Memorial Cemetery.
He is survived by his son, Chris (Suzanne) Jeffreys; stepdaughters, Rita (Carl) Hunter, Tammy (Kim) Miller and Leah (Prentice) Johnson; sister, Carol (Larry) Harris; two nephews and one great-nephew. He was “Granddaddy” to 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hildred Martin Jeffreys; parents, J.H. and Ruby Willis Jeffreys; brothers, Jack and Waymon Jeffreys; and uncle, Ralph (Alleyne) Willis.
