Charles Nelson Crump, age 79 of Jasper, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Ridgeview Healthcare.
Mr. Crump was a Church of Christ preacher for 40 years and a member of Blackwater Macedonia Church of Christ. His passion was mission work, taking God’s word to as many places and people as he could. He traveled to several areas on the North American Continent, from as far North as Canada, to as far South as British Honduras, as well as many states in the United States. He enjoyed working with, and encouraging, young preachers to spread God’s Word. He was an Aviation Boatswain Mate in the U.S. Navy, serving in Alaska and Hawaii during the 1950’s. During his later years, he was a crew foreman at his youngest son’s company, Jeris Crump Service and Construction, training younger workers in the skills of carpentry and good work ethics. He enjoyed vegetable gardening. He loved spending time fishing, playhouse playing, taking care of animals and golf cart racing with his two granddaughters, Emily and Ella.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Midway Church of Christ. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. at Midway Church of Christ with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Scott Webster and Levi Sides will officiate.
Mr. Crump is survived by his Sons-Derek Wesley Crump and Jeris Micah Crump; Brother-Perry Doyle Crump (Pattie Sue); Granddaughters-Emily Carol Crump and Ella Grace Crump.
Pallbearers will be Perry Crump, Bryan Cook, Mark Howell, Todd Clippard, Vance Hutton and Dewayne Butler.
