Charles M. Paulk – Obituary

CharlesLt. Col. Charles M. Paulk, loving husband of Katherine Louise Paulk, died Tuesday, July 2, 2013. He and his wife lived at The Plantation, Leesburg, Fla. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Eugene Paulk, of Florence, Ala., and received his undergraduate degree at the old Florence State.

Col. Paulk retired from the United States Army in 1973. He was a civil engineer with the Army Corps of Engineers and decorated Master Army Aviator, serving two tours in Vietnam and South East Asia, flying over 800 combat hours. Colonel Paulk spent many years as a land developer and custom home builder in Tennessee and Florida. His love of golf, flying and world travel with his wife were only overshadowed by his love of family and friends. He was a life member of the Military Officers Association of America, a Roman Catholic and parishioner at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Leesburg. Col. Paulk was predeceased by three infants; his daughter-in-law, Laurie; and his sister, Sara Elizabeth Corrigan.

He is survived by his wife of 60 plus years, Katherine; two daughters, Pamela Louise and Katherine Michelle Taylor; her husband, Garry and their son, Blake; four sons, Charles M. Jr., Michael Kevin, Joseph William and his wife, Tangie, and their five children, Joseph Jr, Talia, Tish, Tina and James; his youngest son, Samuel Patrick; three great- grandchildren; and many nieces; nephews; and cousins.

A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Paul’s Catholic Church on Friday,

July 5, 2013, at 8:30 a.m. with Father John Giel, Celebrant. Burial will take place at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla., with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
