Charles Frederick “Fred” Fortune

Charles Frederick “Fred” Fortune, 77, ended his earthly pilgrimage and transformed to the life beyond from his Old Union Community residence on Monday, October 27, 2025 after a brief illness. Fred was born in Hammond, Indiana on Feb. 28, 1948 to the late Charles Fortune and Virginia Smith Fortune Argentine. He finished High School and attended trade school. Fred married Susan Woodard Fortune on November 27, 1973, a marriage of 52 years until her death on July 29, 2018. The Fortune’s moved from Corinth to the Tupelo area in 1984. Fred spent over 4 decades as a Boilermaker , United Brotherhood of Boilermakers, 374. He loved his trade and was very devoted to it. A patriotic American, Fred proudly served in the U. S. Marine Corps. He loved fishing, working on race cars and, in his last years, enjoyed playing Counter Strike on-line.

A time of visitation will be held at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors from Noon-service time on Friday, Oct. 31, 2025. There will be no formal service. He is survived by his daughter and primary caregiver, Simone Fortune Jordan (Russell-deceased) of Madison, Ms., his sons, Chip Fortune (Megan) of Washington State and Chris Fortne (Susanna); his siblings, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
