Charles Edwin Taylor, age 79, of Horton, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his residence on December 17, 2025. He was born on August 15, 1946, to the late Martin and Alice Taylor.
Charles was a devoted bass singer in several Gospel groups for more than 40 years, sharing his love of music and faith with countless audiences. In recognition of his contributions to Gospel music, he was inducted into the Gospel Hall of Fame and was honored as a “Governor for a Day.” He was a member of Relentless Church of Boaz. An amateur magician, Charles had a natural gift for keeping everyone laughing and cutting up, bringing joy wherever he went. Above all, he was a loving father and a great man who was deeply loved and will be remembered for his warm heart, kind soul, and genuine spirit.
He is survived by his son, David Edwin (Kimberly) Taylor; sister, Janie (Bobby) Moore; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Cody Taylor; and siblings, David Taylor, Glen Taylor, Phil Taylor, and Carolyn Dunn.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Adams Brown Service Funeral Home, with Bro. Chad Hallcox officiating. Burial will follow at High Point Church Cemetery. Pallbearers assisting will be Nathan Cook, Derrick Moore, BJ Pope, Randy Taylor, Braxton Moore, Triston Moore, Gage Moore, and Bobby Moore.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Monday from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
