Charles Edward Shoemaker, 86, of Killen, AL, passed away November 16, 2016 at Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home. Mr. Shoemaker was retired from Reynolds Metals and was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the North Carolina Church of Christ and also a member of the American Legion.

Mr. Shoemaker is survived by:
Sons: Charles Edward Shoemaker, Jr. (Terry)
Bobby Wayne Shoemaker (Candace)
Daughter: Lesa Dell Shoemaker Johnson (Mike)
Grandchildren: Joshua Wayne Shoemaker (Britney) & Jordan Lee Shoemaker
Foster grandchild: Amelia Rose Holland

He was preceded in death by:
Parents: Robert Lee Shoemaker and Gracie Delona Simpson Shoemaker
Wife: May Dell (Patsy) Richardson Shoemaker
Brothers: Ralph and Leon Shoemaker
Infant Sister

Visitation will be Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday at North Carolina Church of Christ with Glenn Richardson and Joshua Shoemaker officiating. The body will lie in state at the church building from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Burial will be in North Carolina Cemetery with military honors.

Pallbearers will be Gene Richardson, Robert Robinson, Phillip Truitt, & Joe Dickerson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joshua Wayne Shoemaker, Jordan Lee Shoemaker, Alton Parker, and Neil Robison.

The family would like to thank the staff of Brentwood Assisted Living and also Dr. Webb and the wonderful staff at Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home for their loving care given to him during the last few months of his life.
