Funeral service for Charles Edward Ricks, Sr., age 82, of Hartselle, will be Saturday, October 5, 2013, 2:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Ben Hayes officiating. The family will receive friends for four hours prior to service at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Roselawn Mausoleum.
Mr. Ricks, who died Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at his residence, was born February 20, 1931, in Morgan County, to Charles Ester Ricks and Amy Bobo Ricks. He was retired from Decatur Public Works; was a former firefighter for Decatur Fire Department; and a reserve deputy for the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department. Mr. Ricks was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ricks of Hartselle; two sons, Richard Ricks (Ruby) of Danville, and Charles E. “Chuck” Ricks, Jr. (Cathy) of Hillsboro; two brothers, Paul Ricks (Sandra) of Trinity, and Tommy Ricks (Margaret) of Moulton; two sisters, Louise Fretwell of Milton, FL, and Shirley Patterson of Semmes; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The Morgan County Sheriff’s Department will serve as pallbearers.
