Charles Edward Gass, age 89 of Winchester, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. A native of Franklin County, he was born on August 20, 1934, to the late John H. and Fannie I. (Jackson) Gass. Before his retirement, he was employed as plant supervisor at Winchester Hat Factory. An avid outdoorsman, Charles enjoyed fishing and camping, and was a craftsman, a hobby he thoroughly enjoyed. But most of all, he cherished his time with his beloved family, especially his grandchildren. He was a dedicated member of Oaklawn Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, J.B. Gass, Jessie Gass, and Josephine Willis. Charles is survived by his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Marlene Gass; children, Michael (Terri) Gass, Mark (Linda) Gass, and Mitch (Linda) Gass; siblings, Robin Gass, and Pearline Burks; grandchildren, Cristy (Weston) Blakenship, Courtney (Alex) Coffee, Catie (Joe) Whorton, Tyler Gass, Tristan Gass, Lori (Corey) Searcy, Cody (Ashley) Gass, and Lindsey (Noah) Hinshaw; great-grandchildren, Carly, Caden, Libby, and Lainey; and step-grandchildren, Pam Deshazo, Ashley Monk, Jonathan Lester, Jacob (Taylor) Simpson, and Josh (Brittany) Simpson. Visitation will be from 11am-1pm on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 pm in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Bro. Ray Gardner officiating.
