Charles Edison Schrimsher, 93, of Athens, Alabama, passed away peacefully on September 12th, 2026. He was born on August 1st, 1933, to C.D. Schrimsher and Salley Ennis Schrimsher.
Charles was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Jimmy Schrimsher and wife, Bonita; daughters-in-law, Gina Schrimsher and Sherry Schrimsher; grandchildren, Charlie Schrimsher, Lucas Schrimsher, Colleen Prickett, Todd Schrimsher, Amanda Borden, Rebecca Bell, Jacob Schrimsher, Jonathan Hill, and Krista Butts; his beloved dog, Tank; 20 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Ida Lee Lowery.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Sarah Schrimsher; his sons, Rick, Jerry, and David Schrimsher; and brothers and sisters.
Charles had a passion for woodworking and tinkering. He was a talented craftsman who enjoyed building and creating, including beautiful mantles for Winter Homes. His love of working with his hands and creating things that others could enjoy will be fondly remembered by his family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 17th, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Kasey Harbin officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Schrimsher, Luke Schrimsher, Todd Schrimsher, Jonathan Hill, Aaron Bell, and Josh Borden with Honorary Pallbearers being Russ Prickett and Eric Butts.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Compassus Hospice or to any hospice organization of your choice.
Charles will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
