Charles Earl Smith, 86, of Hartselle, Alabama, was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He passed peacefully on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 with his children and granddaughter at his side.
January 26, 1963, Charles married his wife of 60 years, Barbara. His pride was his children, grandchildren, and especially his great-grandson. Once Noah was born, nothing else mattered in his eyes. They were best friends and the love the two of them shared was insurmountable. Missing one of his children’s or grandchildren’s sporting or school events was never an option to him. They could always count on looking up in the stands to find him cheering them on.
Charles was the biggest Alabama fan you will ever meet. Being a member of the Tide Pride, he enjoyed attending football and basketball games with his son, Allen over the years.
Charles was employed at Wolverine Tube for 32 years where he retired in 1998. He worked as a caster 7 days a week for most of those years to provide for his family.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; two children, Donna (Dewayne) and Allen (Julia); two grandchildren, Courtney and Steven; and great-grandson, Noah.
Visitation will be held at Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle, Alabama on June 3, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. followed by service in the chapel. He will be buried at Welcome Baptist Church in Baileyton, Alabama.
He definitely will be greatly missed by all. The family thanks each and every person who has reached out to them to offer prayers over the course of the past month leading up to his passing.
