Charles Earl Hughes, age 88, of Haleyville, AL. passed away Wednesday April 8, 2020. He served in the United States Army, was the owner of Hughes Cotton Gin and a member of Ninth Avenue Church of Christ in Haleyville, AL.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Lauderdale Hughes; children, Chip Hughes, Suzanne Hughes Tyson and Beth Hughes McAlpine; grandchildren, Will Hughes Romine, his wife Christe Lee, Elisabeth Hughes Tyson McKinney, her husband Colton, Leah Hughes Tyson, Frank Wyn McAlpine and Charles Scott McAlpine; great grandchildren, Emme Romine, Andi Romine and Ben Romine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Newton Hughes and Oma Arizona Lowman Hughes; brothers, Paul Hughes and Floyd Hughes; granddaughter, Misty Romine .
