Charlene Kay Wood Perry, 64, of McKenzie, AL, passed away on January 5, 2024. Kay had moved back to Scottsboro, AL in 2022. She was born on March 16, 1959 to Harry S. and Sally Ann Wood. Throughout her lifetime, she had passionate loves for all things baking, gardening and thrifting. She always maintained a positive and uplifting attitude even in the most difficult of times. She will be loved and missed forever.
Kay leaves behind a host of loved ones who are deeply saddened with her passing but rejoice in knowing she is celebrating ever-after with our Lord and Savior. Kay is survived by her loving and devoted father, Harry Wood. She is also survived and missed by her brothers, David W. (Cara) Wood and Curtis Wood. She also leaves behind her Step-Children, Jimmy and Ashley Kelsoe, who meant the world to her. Step-Grand-Children, Riley Kelsoe, Hunter Grace Kelsoe, Brady Kelsoe, Brandon Kelsoe, and Blake Kelsoe made Kay’s heart so happy and gave her years of smiles and love. Kay also is survived by her two nieces, Erin (Jerwin) Velo and Anna Wood.
Kay is preceded in death by her mother, Sally Ann Wood, and her Step-Mother, Betty Jean Wood. Also preceded in death by her special longtime friend, Jimmy Kelsoe, Sr.
Special thank you to Heartlite Hospice Care for their loving care that helped Kay during the final days. Their support helped the family so very much and we are eternally grateful.
A celebration of life will be held at Randall’s Chapel United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 1 p.m.
