Charlene Guthrie Burton, 95, of Grant died Thursday 27 February, 2020.
The funeral service will be graveside only at Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham, Alabama. Mrs. Burton will be buried alongside her husband of 64 years, Herbert B Burton, who preceded her to be with the Lord in 2007.
Mrs. Burton was also preceded in death by her Father, Charles Guthrie; Mother, Robbie Sellers Guthrie and a younger sister, Marion Guthrie.
Survivors include, a sister, Jean Hare; a son, Herb (Joyce) Burton; a daughter, Carolyn Burton Hocutt (Keith); 7 grandchildren, Herb (Christy) Burton, Shane (Devon) Burton, Seth (Danete) Burton, Glenn (Amanda) Burton, Marion Hocutt Norris (Mark), Hannah Hocutt and Joshua Hocutt and 13 grandchildren; Jessie, Christian (Kristina), Cody, Evan, Logan, Triston, Luke, Aaron, Colin, Caleb, Micah, Samuel and Malachi. Mrs. Burton was born in Townley, Alabama. Graduated The University of Alabama in accounting in three years, after a few years in accounting decided teaching would be easier raising a family and taught in numerous schools finishing her career in 1985 in Gurley, Alabama at Madison County High School.
