Charges Of Manslaughter Levied Against Decatur Man For May 28 Dealy Auto Crash

LAWRENCE COUNTY-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency released a statement concerning a two-vehicle  accident that took place in May of last year that took the life of one man and injured two other people:

“On Thursday, February 8, 2024, at approximately 5:55 a.m., Hugo Armando Roman-Ortiz was arrested in Morgan County and taken into custody by Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division with assistance from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Roman-Ortiz was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center where he was served with the following grand jury warrants: Manslaughter, DUI, No Driver’s License, Improper Lane Usage, and Driving Thru Traffic Control Device.

The investigation is ongoing and as additional information becomes available and can be shared, it will be released. The original release is below.”
