Chappelle McGuire Black Grubbs, formerly of Muscle Shoals and Sheffield, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the age of 97. Her visitation will be today, March 8, 2018 from 10 a.m. to noon at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow at noon in the funeral home chapel with Larry Kilpatrick officiating. There will be a private graveside service for the family.
Chappelle was a member of Cox Boulevard Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elgan L. “Butch” Black; brothers, William McGuire, Fred McGuire, W.G. McGuire and James McGuire; and sister, Carmel Walker.
She is survived by her husband, William H. Grubbs; sons, Tim Black of Muscle Shoals and Glen Grubbs of Tuscumbia; daughters, Linda Black of Shelbyville, Tennessee and Lea Grubbs Black of Athens; five grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Chris Black, Scott Grubbs, Tim Grubbs, Tony Grubbs and Bryce Graham, Jr. and Robbie Johnson.
