THE SHOALS-The Shoals Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce that sixteen local students have graduated from the Shoals HIRE Academy. HIRE (Helping Industry Recruit Excellence) Academy launched in Fall 2019 in an effort to better prepare students for the workforce. This program replaced the Chamber’s Youth Leadership Shoals program but followed a similar format while also including group industry tours and a heavier focus on soft skill development, workplace etiquette, and resume writing.

Graduates of the 2019-2020 HIRE Academy are:
Dylan Brearley, Muscle Shoals High School; Garyson Campbell, Muscle Shoals High School; Eric Coleman, Florence High School; Kayley Donaldson, Deshler High School; Kevin Keelon, Brooks High School; Ashley Kelly, Rogers High School; Riya Key, Muscle Shoals High School; Connor Lewis, Brooks High School; Kerigan Mardis, Colbert County High School; Brady Pettus, Lexington High School; Wilton-Mark Pettus, Lexington High School; Lydia Powell, Lexington High School; Jeremy Ray, Florence High School; Katie Stutts, Sheffield High School; Emma Wallace, Deshler High School; Madeline Williams, Lexington High School.
Shoals HIRE Academy students were high school juniors from Colbert and Lauderdale counties enrolled in Career Technical Education courses. The Academy met monthly through the school year, participating in career-related workshops and tours of businesses while learning about various aspects of the Shoals.
