HUNTSVILLE-Land Trust of North Alabama invites all ages to enjoy a morning of outdoor fun at Harvest Square Nature Preserve on Saturday, April 27, during STEM at the Preserve.
This family-friendly event, hosted in partnership with Toyota and the National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF), is free to attend and celebrates the natural world with a special focus on pollinators and their importance to the ecosystem. Throughout the morning, participants can take a closer look at many of the fascinating aspects of nature with educational guided hikes, presentations on northern Alabama wildlife from expert naturalists, and a variety of family-led interactive activities.
Over the past year with grant support from Toyota and NEEF, Land Trust of North Alabama has created a pollinator garden at Harvest Square Nature Preserve with the goal of enhancing the local habitat by providing native plant species that attract and support pollinators. Located near the trail entrance, the garden not only provides food and habitat for pollinators, like ants, bees, beetles, butterflies, moths, and wasps, but also encourages visitors to use plants and practices in their yard that promote healthy populations of these critical creatures. Using this space as an example, native plant specialists will be on-site during the event to provide a tutorial on building your own pollinator garden.
Registration is not required to attend this community celebration. Event information is available at landtrustnal.org/event/stem- at-the-preserve2024.
