The festivities get underway at 3 p.m. and families are invited to arrive earlier to enjoy the day cooling off at the Point Mallard Water Park.

The Spirit of America Field opens to guests at 3 p.m. so that families can pick out a prime viewing location to enjoy the fireworks show set for later in the evening. The free Independence Day celebration kicks off at 3:30 p.m. with the Children’s Bike Parade where patriotic decorated bikes, tricycles, wagons and strollers make their way around the Spirit of America field (soccer fields). Registration for the parade is free and is required beginning at 3 p.m. at TC Almon. A children’s area and food and craft vendors, hosted by Kiwanis Club of Decatur, will be available from 4 to 10 p.m. in the Expo Pavilion and surrounding areas so children can play, and adults may shop for unique items and indulge on traditional festival food.

Families can arrive before the festival gets underway and cool off at the Point Mallard Water Park.
