Cecil was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He spent his life doing for others. After 36 ½ years, he retired from the Scottsboro Electric Power Board, but he didn’t just sit down. He continued his volunteer work with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department for over 55 years. He had a love for his family, but also a love for his community all the same. He lived his life with a servant’s heart, always helping others. He was so much to so many and he helped a lot of people change their lives for the better. You were simply a better person just being around him. He always saw the best in everyone and brought that out. To know Cecil was to love Cecil. He loved the city of Scottsboro and Jackson County with his road crew that he loved dearly. He spent countless hours cleaning up roadways, planting flowers and trees as a member of the Scottsboro Tree Commission, along with many recognized achievements along the way. He took pride in all he did. In a world with so much bad, he continued to sprinkle his good in everything he touched or did. He leaves a lifetime legacy in our city and county and will be truly missed by all.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Heartlite Hospice and staff.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Scottsboro Funeral Home Chapel.
