
Gary Hugh Stancil – Cleared of charges
RUSSELLVILLE – Out of work on administrative leave since the indictment was handed down in December, Gary Hugh Stancil has been cleared of charges that he was complicent in the production of methamphetamine. Gary Hugh Stancil, of Spruce Pine was arrested last December on charges of attempting to commit a controlled substance crime, namely aiding in the production of methamphetamine. Franklin Sheriff investigators said they found a quantity of of Sudafed, or similar medication in the phys-ed teacher’s possession.
But now, Sheriff Oliver says that the investigation has cleared Stancil, now that new information has been developed in the case. According to him, Stancil was an unwitting pawn in a meth-production scheme.
Stancil is still out of work until the Franklin County School Board can officially reinstate him.
