Cathleen Duke Cathleen Ann Heinz Duke born May 22, 1940, in Peoria, IL and died on April 8, 2024, in Murfreesboro, TN.

Cathy was preceded in death by her father, Jerome Nicholas Heinz and her mother, Geraldine Routh Heinz and her sister, Janice Heinz Ruggerio. Cathy is survived by her children: Lynn T. Duke Eilers (Jeff); Edward D. Duke; Jyll Duke Barr; Stephen D. Duke (Michelle); and Sara E. Duke Johnson.  Her siblings: Teresa Heinz, John Heinz (Suzette) and Daniel Heinz (Lisa).  Cathy is also survived by her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren: Nicholas Barr, Meagan Barr, Sadie Eilers Oakland (Andrew), Sadie’s children: Lydia, Evelyn, Zackary, and baby on the way; Erik Eilers, Nicole Duke and Brian Duke.

Cathy attended St. Bernard’s Grade School and continued her Catholic education at The Academy of Our Lady/Spalding Institute, Class of 1958.  After graduating high school, Cathy attended St. Francis School of Nursing and became an RN.  Cathy returned to school and received her Bachelor of Science in December 1986.  Cathy worked at St. Francis Hospital for over 40 years.

Cathy was passionate about her job as an RN and loved helping people while sick in the hospital.  Her nursing instincts never left as she loved helping her friends and family with medical questions and enjoyed reading medical books and journals. She was always curious about all her medical care. In retirement she enjoyed visiting with family and friends and continued reading through medical books and journals. Loved her British Broadcasting Corporation TV as well as being able to spend time with her grandchildren and her “little monsters” (great grandchildren).

A celebration of life and memorial service will be held June 13, 2024, 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel at Resurrection Mausoleum 7519 Allen Road, Peoria, IL.
