Cassandra Nelson Barber was born November 17, 1968 to Ronnie Nelson and the late Barbara Nelson Brown. She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara; Grandparents Rev. Raymond and Carrie Cross, Flora Musgrove and Van Nelson; Aunts, Annie Abernathy and Naomi Cross Brown; Uncles, Eugene Cross, Raymond Cross Jr, Stanford Cross, Nelson Cross; her twins Shaurees & Daurees Appleton.
She professed hope in Christ at an early age at Dixon Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church. As an adult, she joined Temple of Praise Church under the leadership of Apostle Stanley R. Garrett. Here, Cassandra accepted her calling into the ministry. She recently submitted to the call of an Elder of the Church. She had a deep love for the church and her Pastor.
As a teenager Cassandra enjoyed playing the flute and piccolo. You would also often find her on the softball field. She also loved to sing. She spent many years singing in the church choir.
Cassandra had a genuine love for all people. She would open her doors to anyone of all ages, to feed and simply to show them love. To know her was to know Christ.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, Saturday, February, 24th, 2018 at the Central Building. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon at the Central Building.
The burial will follow in the Oak Grove Memorial Cemetery.
Cassandra leaves to cherish her memory: Husband, Mark Antonio Barber; Sons, Verbal (Jess) Brown, Julius Appleton, James Fowler, Mark Barber; Daughter, Emorjee Barber; Father, Ronnie (Lucille) Nelson; Stepfather, Don Brown; Her loving grandchildren whom she adored; Sisters; Sherri Nelson Crawford, Natasha Nelson; Brother Gerald (Salina) Pace; Cousin, Melanie (Marvin) Johnson; Aunts, Deborah (Reginald) Huff, Carol (Leon) Wade, Bobbie Cross, Patricia Cross, Myra Pipkins; Uncles, Robert (Caulynne) Cross, William (Ara) Cross, and Leroy Abernathy.
Cassandra also leaves her nieces and nephews whom she had a special place in her heart for as well as a host of cousins and friends, memories to hold dear.
