Carter Powell Stockton, Sr. passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, November 14, 2025. A proud Huntsville native, Carter was born in Huntsville, Alabama, attended Randolph School, and graduated from Huntsville High School before earning his degree from The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. He went on to build a successful career as the founder and CEO of Stockton Capital Funding and Leasing, Inc., where he was known as a dedicated entrepreneur and an innovative financier with a deep desire to learn, grow, and share his knowledge with others.
Carter lived life with a spirit as big as his stories, always valuing excellence. He had a profound love of the outdoors and a passion for international hunting, appreciating the challenge and beauty that came with it. He cherished Southern traditions and delighted in bringing joy to others—often through adventures and experiences.
He was preceded in death by his father, Benton Argile Stockton, Jr., his mother, Flo Stockton, and his brother, Benton Argile Stockton, III. Carter is lovingly survived by his wife, Sally Underwood Stockton, and his sons, Carter Powell Stockton, Jr. and Jackson Benton Argile Stockton, who were his greatest pride.
A graveside service will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., with The Reverend Doctor Virginia Monroe officiating. Pallbearers will be Buzzy Byrom, Jeff Constantine, Rene Fortin, Hanes Green, Bill Grubbs, Sumter Park, and John Ragland.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Nativity Historic Preservation Foundation, 208 Eustis Ave., Huntsville, AL 35801 or to the charity of your choice.
