Carrie M. Cayson, 89, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at the North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice care unit after a brief illness. She was born January 15, 1926, in Monroe County. On September 13, 1942, she married the love of her life, Joe Edward Cayson. They were married for over 72 years. She was a homemaker who worked along side her husband to earn a living and rear their four children. She enjoyed growing flowers, gardening, and cooking. Her family knew to be prepared for a new dish after she read the Wednesday Daily Journal. Later in life, she enjoyed watching sports on television and keeping up with current events by phone. Her biggest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of East Fulton Baptist Church and the Willing Workers Ladies’ Sunday School class.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 29, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Joseph Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Dorsey Cemetery.
Survivors include her two daughters, Martha Weatherford (Tommy) and Patti Hannon (Jim), both of Fulton; her two sons, Gary Cayson (Becky) of Fulton and Michael Cayson (Kathryn) of Tupelo; three grandchildren, Duane Cayson (Melissa) and Kaysie Beard (Brad), both of Fulton, and Emily Cayson of Tupelo; four great-grandchildren, Clay Cayson, Cody Cayson, Cayson Beard, and Braley Jo Beard, all of Fulton; a niece, Linda Martin; and a nephew, Jerry Page.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Edward Cayson, on June 1, 2015; an infant grandchild; a son-in-law, B.B. McElroy; and two sisters, Annie Taylor and Jewel Page.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Page, Hershel Martin, Harold Martin, Shane Dulaney, Larry Digby, Jerry Summers, Mackey Thornton, and Wayne Thorn.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family extends a special expression of gratitude to the doctors and staff of North Mississippi Medical Center and North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice.
